This church is a beautiful example of Romanesque architecture of the lower Poitou
Beautiful example of Romanesque architecture from the Lower Poitou. Rebuilt in the 15th century, the foundations date back to 900. The chapel was founded in 1589. Superb entrance portal: large gable wall framed by 2 sets of columns. The lower part is decorated in Romanesque style (portal with arches), the upper part in Gothic style (the Last Supper sculpted in low relief). Originally the church had two aisles and nine bays. The three bays of the nave adjacent to the transept, the transept crossing, the bell tower and part of the crypt date from the 19th century. The Théodelin nave is an exhibition room.
