ÉGLISE SAINT-NICOLAS
A typical Guéthary church, with a sober, massive exterior and three-storey galleries surrounding the nave and organ
Saint-Nicolas de Guéthary, patron saint of sailors, pilgrims and children, was built in the 16th century, enlarged in 1859 and renovated in 1970. Situated on the highest point of the village and visible from afar along the coast, it is typical of Basque churches, with a sober, massive exterior, an interior that impresses with its three-storey galleries surrounding the single nave and an organ dating from 1955. The ceiling features an ex-voto in the shape of a ship. In 2001, the building was included in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments.
