Semaphore listed in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments at Guéthary.
The semaphore, or Atalaye (a signaling post established on a coast to communicate with ships in sight) is located above Parlementia beach. In the past, it was used as a whale watching post in the bay, it gave the alert, rang the bell. The fishermen would then take their drags down from the hold and go in pursuit of the precious whale. Today, it is used by the maritime affairs to signal the presence of breakers to sailors. It is listed in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments.
