TOWN HOTEL
Town hall built in 1531, whose tower was added in 1619 by Ascagne Albertini, architect and bailiff of Benfeld
The town hall was built in 1531: the bailiff then rendered justice under the open arcades. The tower was added in 1619 by Ascagne Albertini, architect and bailiff of Benfeld. The three wooden figures of the Jacquemart clock represent Wisdom and Death. The third figure, whom the inhabitants call the Stubbenhansel, holds the provost's staff which he raises and lowers, opening and closing his mouth. Between the figures, three clocks: a moon dial, a dial indicating the time of Paris and the third the local time of Strasbourg.
