and century seigniorial dwelling reconstituted on the medieval castle of Château-Thierry
The medieval castle of Château-Thierry, a powerful fortress belonging to the Counts of Vermandois in the 10th century, has been reconstructed as a lordly dwelling in the 10th and 11th centuries. This reconstruction illustrates the daily life of the population living within the domestic walls of the first wooden castles at the birth of feudalism. Sheltered by the fortifications, craftsmen and commoners worked in the workshops on a wide range of manual and traditional activities.
