CALIFORNIA PLATEAU
The California Plateau is steeped in history and offers a panoramic view of the site of the Nivelle offensive of April 16, 1917.
A stage on a walking tour in the Vauclair forest, the California plateau offers a panoramic view of the site of the Nivelle offensive of 16 April 1917 and a view of the three departments of the Aisne, the Ardennes and the Marne. On this plateau, the fighting was terrible. The Haïm Kern stele, inaugurated in 1998, was erected in memory of all the anonymous people who fell during the 1914-1918 war. Visitors can retrace the course of history by following the route that runs alongside some of the trenches that are still visible, illuminated by markers.
