PIC DU MONDARRAIN
The Mondarrain peak, home to the ruins of a castle, offers panoramic views of the sea and the peaks of the Basque Country.
The Pic du Mondarrain peaks at 749 m. Take the D249 to La Place, then the Col de Legarre or the Goroustou district, 500 m after Legarre. From marked paths and rock-climbing crags (without danger), you can easily climb to the summit, and discover the ruins of a castle built during the wars between Navarre and England. From the summit, there's a superb 360° panorama of the sea and the peaks of the Basque Country. This peak is one of the most accessible family hikes (230 m difference in altitude), with a 10 to 12 km route.
