SOMMET D’ARTZAMENDI
A summit where Pottoks live in complete freedom and where you can meet shepherds and sometimes dry-stone enclosures
It culminates at 926 m. A road leads to the summit through the Mehatze pass following the bottom of the Laxia valley. The pass is the meeting point of three Basque provinces: from the esplanade, we can see the south-east of Navarre, the east towards Bidarray and the north-east of Labordin. The view from the top is splendid and extensive (up to Ursuya and the Rhune). At this altitude, the ground is covered with short grass and small streams flow here and there. The pottoks live here in complete freedom, you can also meet shepherds and sometimes dry stone enclosures.
