VICTOR HUGO FRESCO
A large-scale fresco by a Ukrainian-Hungarian painter to decorate the Place Victor-Hugo during the Européennes de l'Art.
Jean-Jacques Thomas, mayor of Hirson, had invited the Ukrainian-Hungarian painter, Peter Földessy, to create a large fresco depicting Victor Hugo Square during the European Art Days. Refreshed in 2010, the work still deserves a small stop. The various literary summits of the writer are represented: Les Misérables and Notre-Dame de Paris, in particular. You will notice that the range of colours used is reminiscent of our French flag. This huge painting can be seen from the rue Charles-de-Gaulle, the main road serving the town of Hirson.
