JEAN-RACINE MUSEUM
The Musée Jean-Racine in La Ferté-Milon features a wealth of documents about the poet and his work.
This museum is housed in the house where Jean Racine spent his childhood. Orphaned at the age of 3, he was raised by his grandmother. As you enter the museum, you'll be greeted by the majestic statue of Racine by David d'Angers. Throughout your visit, you'll discover numerous documents concerning the author and his work: letters, portraits, engravings and first editions. You'll also find many items from the history of La Ferté-Milon, such as Henri IV's signature on a parchment stipulating the demolition of the château.
