THE SALT LOFT
Le Grenier à Sel de Marle is where Jean-Pierre Faucheux once lived, on the corner of rue Lalouette.
The city of Marle has many monuments and remains to discover. All have a history, like this salt attic, which was granted to the city by Louis XI in 1476. Established in France from 1343, the salt granaries allowed to harvest the gabelle, when the king's subjects came to it in salt. Marle's is at the corner of the lanes of the Grenier-à-Sel and Lalouette Street. A large number of parishes were coming in. A local personality, Jean-Pierre Faucheux, has lived in this salt attic. He was the one who rehabilitated the City Hall in 1739.
