THE CONVENT OF CLARISSES
The convent of the Poor Clares, a royal abbey founded in 1299 by Blanche d'Artois in Nogent-l'Artaud.
Founded in 1299 by Blanche d'Artois, Countess of Champagne and Brie, for "the remedy of her two husbands and herself", this royal abbey depended on the Abbey of Longchamp. Destroyed in 1452, it was repopulated by a new colony of urbanist girls who persisted until the Revolution. Then sold as national property in 1792, it belongs in part to the association Nogent Historique which has taken on the mission of enhancing the site. Today only the ruins of this prestigious royal abbey remain. A magnificent journey through time.
