CHALLENGE D'OSSAU 2020
Four pedestrian races in the heart of the preserved site of the Ossau Valley are proposed during this sporting challenge which celebrates its 33rd edition in 2020!
Lo Petit Aussales: new course, it's the "back to the roots"!
The start and finish will be in front of the Casino des Eaux-Bonnes (757 m). The horizontal walk will be taken for 400 m towards the left along the Assouste wood track to above the suspended forest, to join the Promenade de l'Impératrice up to the Iscoo campsite. Behind it, a piece of trail (300 m) to take a small path that will lead the competitors (after crossing the brook La Sourde at km 4.6) on the Gesque trail . Other information to be found below.
On May 17, the Ronde du pic: 15-kilometre route, Rébénacq-Rébénacq loop (elevation gain: 230 metres). The course forms a figure eight with a small loop and a large loop. It takes competitors through the village of Rébénacq. Organized women's race with an 8-kilometre course! Start at 10 am for runners and walkers, registration fee: 13 € until the day before the race, 18 € the same day.
On June 14th, Lo Petit Aussales: a 20.6 kilometre course from Arudy to Eaux-Bonnes (altitude difference: 350 metres). This is the oldest event of the challenge. It is a real half-marathon in nature. The start is set on the Place de la Mairie in Arudy, at 8.30 am for walkers and 9.15 am for runners. Registration fee: 13 € until the day before the race, 18 € the same day.
On June 28th, the Ossaloise: a 23-kilometre route from Louvie-Juzon to Laruns (altitude difference: 1,007 metres). Two thirds of the race takes place on forest tracks and pastoral paths, giving it a rustic dimension. It is the longest stage of the Ossau challenge! The race is open to all, men, women and disabled sportsmen and women, the road being closed to traffic on the day of the race. Registration fees are 14 € until the day before the race and 19 € on the day itself. Note that one euro is donated to an association for the fight against cystic fibrosis.
On 30 August, Montée de l'Aubisque: 18.7 kilometre route from Laruns to the Col d'Aubisque (altitude difference: 1,204 metres). This race has been elected four times "Bipède d'or", the best mountain race in France. This year will also be the 5th edition of the Aubisque trail, which runs in parallel, 14 kilometres long and with a vertical drop of 1,474 metres, it is open to all. Registrations must be made before the day of the event, the fee is 19 €.
