FOIRE AU FROMAGE
In particular, you will discover the famous Ossalois sheep's cheese. It is the meeting place for cheese lovers and admirers of shepherd traditions, a must in Béarn. 15,000 people are expected and generally more than 1,000 cheeses are sold over the two days. On this fair, organized by the association Hera Deu Hromatge, an old-fashioned craft market, demonstrations of herding dogs, woodcutters or shearing sheep or a cheese making workshop are proposed! Among the highlights of the fair: children's entertainment under a marquee, the Saturday evening meal served by the shepherds (on reservation), tasting workshops or, on Sunday, the competition for the best sheep's cheese made in Ossau, with prizes for the public and children. Spring or summer cheeses, the farms compete in flavours to seduce you! On this occasion, the history and making of the cheeses are explained to the public by the producers. And each year, a region is invited. Last year, the Banon des Alpes-de-Haute-Provence PDO was in the spotlight... You will surely discover tasty cheeses that you will enjoy without moderation!
