THE HENRI II PAVILION
The building known as Pavillon Henri II is now a literary and music salon in Villers-Cotterêts.
In his Mémoires, Alexandre Dumas declared his admiration for Monsieur Deviolaine's home, describing it as a palace. Built at the end of the 14th century, this magnificent building, known as "Pavillon Henri II", was enlarged and redecorated by the Duc d'Orléans. It was subsequently sold to Jean-Michel Deviolaine, the Retz forest inspector mentioned by Alexandre Dumas, and bought by King Louis-Philippe in 1843. Today, the pavilion is a literary and music salon. A guided tour not to be missed.
