THE CHURCH OF SAINTE-EULALIE
Church with a cross-vaulted porch and a magnificent altarpiece that animates the choir, a site to discover in Lescun.
This building is dedicated to Saint Eulalie, the Spanish saint martyred by Emperor Maximian at the dawn of the 4th century when she was only 12 years old. The current building was expanded and redesigned from 1850 to 1856. It preserves on its entrance gate the date 1663 engraved in stone, a period marked in the valley by numerous church renovations. The porch, which is vaulted with a cross-point of warheads, houses an adjoining portal from the late 11th century and the ground is planted with pebbles. Inside, the nave is topped by a gallery with superposed galleries. Finally, a magnificent altarpiece animates the choir, with Saint Eulalie enthroned above the main altar.
