SAINT LUCIAN TOWER
Saint Lucia Abbey was one of the most powerful in France thanks to the many rights and revenues it enjoyed. Its foundation is closely linked to the worship of Saint Lucia, sent by the Pope to convert païens from the country bellovaque. Persecuted by the Romans, he réfugia at Mount Thousand where he suffered the martyrdom of decapitation. In the French Revolution, Saint Lucia Abbey was sold as a national property and served as a stone quarry. That is why today only part of the body is a monumental door and a tower dating back to the th century, combined with the th century of machicolated and niches. See near the church of Notre-Dame-du-Thil.
