MAISON GRÉBER
Charles Gréber took over the father's factory in 1899. His taste for colour and detail made him a recognized artist in this discipline, earning him a silver medal at the 1900 Paris Universal Exhibition. In 1911, he had the family factory decorated, which was one of the best ceramic factories until 1962. The facade of the residence is splendid: it gathers beautiful examples of the factory's productions, both in terms of colours and patterns, with chameleons and amphibians in particular. The main element is a white sandstone bas-relief depicting a turner at work and used as a sign in the shop. The roof is also worth a look: it consists of yellow and blue glazed tiles, arranged in diamonds. This site is a little off-centre compared to the other points of interest in the city. But the house is worth a visit. If you are seduced by ceramics, a beautiful tour is available at the tourist office, including Avenue Victor-Hugo or the Gréber family house at 14, rue Bossuet.
