PLACE JEANNE-HACHETTE
This place, located in the heart of the city centre, is named in honour of the young girl who illustrated himself against the soldiers of Charles the Bold who sought to take the city in 1472. Before the bombings of June 1940, it was surrounded by charming old houses with wooden beams. The Hotel de Ville is the only building that has been spared by the war and one can admire its lovely façade dating back to the th century. On the square, notice the statue of Jeanne Hachette sculpted by Vital Gabriel Dubray and inaugurated in 1851 by Prince Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte. The place is now the nerve centre of Beauvais, with shops and breweries where it is good to eat on the terrace.
