TIMBER-FRAMED HOUSES
Eparpillées in the old town, some houses were occupied by the German bombings of 1940. Just behind the cathedral, those of Racine and Pastour streets built in the th century are, for example, recognisable to their étages floors. It is in the route des Chasse-marée that is the oldest house in Beauvais: judge rather, it dates back to 1410! It was originally located in the rue Oudry, and was completely dismantled to be rebuilt in the 1990 s at the bedside of the cathedral. Today it houses the headquarters of the Association «Maisons paysannes de l'Oise». Also in the episcopal district, the streets of the Tourne-Broche, Abbot-Gellée, School-de-Chant (including the Rodin House in which the sculptor lived for three years) also houses canoniales houses. The beautiful half-timbered houses built in the 27 th century are also numerous on the street of June. It was here that the members of the clergy and the notables were inhabited, while the bourgeois and the workers were relegated beyond the Gallo-Roman walls.
