From the th century, a royal charter reported the existence of three water mills in Chambly. In the th century most of them were destroyed during the Wars of Religion. In the th century, seven mills were re-operating thanks to the current of Esches: the mill du Mesnil-Saint-Martin, the mill of Saint-Aubin, the mill of Vigneseuil, the mill of Mennecourt, the mill mill, the mill of Bassault and the mill Neuf. The mill of the hamlet of Mesnil-Saint-Martin, upstream of Chambly, on the edge of the Esches was built in 1640. Over the centuries, he had various owners. Today, this mill, says Deligne, is a prosperous society employing 43 people and produces more than 2 000 quintals of flour per day. The Moulin Deligne is the only one still existing today in Chambly.
