WHIPPED CREAM AREA
An estate that takes you back in time to the castle's sumptuous era.
Whether you arrive from the town of Chantilly or from the forest, the breathtaking view of the estate will leave you speechless! You'll immediately plunge into another time, back to the castle's sumptuous era, while your car vibrates as it rolls over the ancient cobblestones all along the road, at the same rhythm as the horses in the carriage. Surrounded by water, the château is a jewel of French heritage that will captivate you. Once you've parked your car in one of the parking lots adjacent to the château (fee: €5 per day), you can spend the day on foot to discover the estate: visit the Château de Chantilly and its magnificent Condé Museum, which occupies the interior of the château, wander through the park to discover the formal gardens, meet the animals on site (sheep, kangaroos...) and immerse yourself in the magical world of Chantilly's horses in the Grandes Écuries. It's up to you to decide whether you'd like to have lunch on site or take your picnic from your bag in one of the picnic areas. The Château de Chantilly, intimately linked to the history of France, has been constantly enlarged and restored by all its occupants since its construction in the Middle Ages, and there have been many: the Orgemonts in the Middle Ages, the Montmorencies in the 16th century, the Condés between the 17th and early 19th centuries. The Duc d'Aumale, Henri d'Orléans, heir to Louis-Henri Joseph, Prince de Condé, reclaimed the château in 1830 and left his mark on its history. He rebuilt the Grand Château, which had been razed during the Revolution, and enriched it with all his art collections. In 1886, the Duc d'Aumale donated the château to the Institut de France: his aim was to make the château an exceptional place open to the public, and his gamble paid off. To come to Château de Chantilly is to feel the wind of freedom blowing through the grounds. For children, the dream goes even further, as period costumes can be rented from the château's boutique for the tour. So don't be surprised if you come across princes, princesses, marquises or marquises in the castle. Or horses in the park, with an Amazon princess and her prince out for a stroll. To pick up your day ticket, simply pass through the gates at the entrance to the park and let yourself be guided to the little house on the left. A day ticket gives you access to the château-museum, the park and the Grandes Écuries.
