FÊTES JEANNE D’ARC

Every year, a young student, who is compulsorily cavalière, is designated to play the role of Pucelle d'Orléans during a grand Parade in the form of historical reconstruction. This tribute is linked to the history of Jeanne d'Arc in Compiègne. Coming three times in the city, in May 1430, Joan d'Arc took on the relief of the besieged city. Trapped, she was jailed before being delivered to the English and burned. This story justifies a celebration initiated in 1909 in Compiègne, the festival becoming annual in 1976. The event is marked by a market and a medieval camp (Saturday and Sunday), by a night show on Saturday evening and by a parade on Sunday. Younger people particularly appreciate the proposed animations, including swords of swords (in safe safety), calligraphy, street shows or the work of maréchal.
