THE MUSEUMS OF THE SECOND EMPIRE
A museum tracing the life of Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte's imperial family, and housing art objects and documents.
Throughout the rooms of the museum, the paintings allow us to retrace the episodes linked to the imperial family such as the tragic death of the prince, the hunts in the forest of Compiègne, the beautiful canopy bed intended for the (cancelled) visit of Sissi... We measure the importance of the palace at the time. Beyond the history, we will linger on the luxury of the imperial cases and insignia, or the majestic painting Eugenie surrounded by her ladies-in-waiting by Franz Xaver Winterhalter.
