The first radio station of France, NRJ is also a pioneer radio among free radios. In 1981, when the FM band was liberalised, Jean-Paul Baudecroux installed a small transmitter in the window of his room in Paris, creating the New Youth Radio. Today, the NRJ network consists of about 150 local antennas and web-radios. Its programming is based exclusively on hits. Among its local branches, the Lille Antenne offers several regional information bulletins daily.
