LIANCOURT
This municipality of 7 200 inhabitants owes its fame to its park, castle and family of La. The city belonged to this former Charentaise family whose most illustrious member was the author of the famous Maxims. The Duke of La Rochefoucauld created on one of his farms, La Ferme de la Montagne, a vocational training school for orphans in the region. A statue of the Duke of La Rochefoucauld was erected on the square of the city centre on 6 October 1861. The character is represented as a benefactor of humanity, a tribute paid by his creator FL Poilleux, student of Arts and Crafts schools. The statue was destroyed by Italian soldiers in 1942 and exploded in June 1951.
