SAINT SULPICE CHURCH

A beautiful church in Pierrefonds, with paintings from the 15th century, and an organ with all the sounds of the time.
This church is an additional attraction for this charming commune. Its name comes from Saint Sulpice le Pieux, archbishop of Bourges. Clotaire II took him as an adviser, chaplain and made him bishop in 624. The building of Romanesque origin was built between 1060 and 1070 by Nivelon, first lord of Pierrefonds. The church was then rebuilt at different times and restored after the bombings of the Second World War. The church houses paintings from the 15th century and a remarkable organ which has all the timbres of the reign of Louis XIV.
