CASTLE OF MOMAS AND ITS REMARKABLE GARDENS
This elegant castle is located just below the church of Momas, at the end of an alley of trees and behind an iron gate
Situated just below the church of Momas, at the end of a tree-lined driveway and behind an iron gate, there is something mysterious about this elegant little castle. Originally it was a feudal mound from the 10th century, then the present building was built in the 14th century before being remodelled in the 18th century. The ground floor will be presented to you by Beatrice, the daughter of the owner, where you will see a room with a fireplace decorated in the Spanish Renaissance style, family portraits, a showcase with period souvenirs such as coins found in the garden, but also a tea service, an 18th century embroidery box, salt bottles, medals... The former home of the Lords of Momas regains its lost charms thanks to the will of the Teillard family. In its gardens, it keeps thousands of flowering plants and rare vegetables of yesterday and today. They are presented to visitors through medieval-inspired gardens, where more than 1,200 different plant varieties are told to you by their creator. Everything is beautiful and delicate, with a magnificent view of the plain and the Pyrenees all around.
