ABBATIALE
Its position on a hill and its large proportions (71 m in length and 27 m height of vault) give its majesty to this abbey several kilometers round the round. In 1081, Hugues de Dammartin, Lord of Esserent, donated the village of Saint-Leu and granted the right of navigation on the river to the monks of Cluny. The Benedictine build a priory and a church on the location of a Romanesque building between xiie and xiiith century. We will notice the two square towers that framed the abside. Inside, we will stop before the glove of Renaud de Boulogne, Count of Dammartin, defeated by Philippe-Auguste in Bouvines in 1214. To have a good overview of the timetable, a good initiative has been taken: to create a small window at the entrance (do not hesitate to push the gate and door). Outside, we appreciate the adjacent park and priory, where there is a beautiful perspective on the Oise Valley and the impressive abbey.
