STONE HOUSE
Museography allowing to discover this unknown heritage but also the techniques of the quarrymen.
For centuries, stone has made the reputation of Saint-Maximin. This excellent quality material was used for local constructions, but also for prestigious monuments such as the magnificent cathedral of Amiens, the Louvre Palace, or the prestigious British Museum! Through a successful museography, with lighting and sound effects, we discover this unknown heritage but also the techniques of quarrymen. This underground quarry was given a second life by growing mushrooms from Paris until 1993. The one-hour guided tour will allow you to cool down or warm up according to the seasons, since it is 11°C all year round. We lend you polar blankets at the entrance if you need them. Many activities are organized throughout the year: treasure hunts, storytelling tours, stone sculpture workshops, introduction to the arts of stained glass or mosaics, sessions for budding geologists, quality exhibitions of all kinds! We advise you to try the escape game in this underground and mysterious atmosphere. It is of course recommended to book these popular activities.
