ST. PIERRE PONDS
The Saint-Pierre ponds are considered one of the most beautiful sites in the Compiègne forest.
On the Eugenie road, a stop at the Saint-Pierre ponds is a must! Considered as one of the most beautiful sites of the forest of Compiègne, the three artificial ponds were dug in the 16th century by the Celestine monks. These fishy ponds are still today a fisherman's paradise. What a pleasure to watch herons, swans, frogs, moorhens or ducks, and to contemplate plane trees, poplars and a centuries old oak tree. It is also the starting point for hikes to the Saint-Mard and Saint-Pierre mountains.
