FORMER URSULINE CONVENT
Convent of the Ursulines in Abbeville, who moved there in 1642, its remains are an example of Louis XIII-style architecture.
This convent, where the Ursuline nuns settled in 1642, was almost completely destroyed during the bombardments of May 20, 1940, after having been requisitioned as a military hospital in 1939. Period photos have been used to reconstruct the building. Over 1,200 bricks were needed to rebuild it! It's one of the few examples of Louis XIII-style architecture in Abbeville. The town has installed a lighting system to highlight the remains.
