TRIFLE CASTLE
Castle with a superb park, with French gardens.
In 1665, Colbert granted the Dutchman Josse van Robais exclusive rights to protected markets such as military cloth. It was at this time that Abraham van Robais, the prodigal grandson, had this country house built in wood, brick and stone. In 1750, it was just a small, elegant and refined three-room building. Fifteen years later, a second floor was added, lit by fourteen bull's-eyes, topped by a Mansard roof and served by a majestic wrought-iron staircase. The grounds are also superb, with formal gardens.
