Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-Brebières of neo-Byzantine style, which is worth a visit to discover its history.
This basilica is well worth a visit! Stop to admire its colors: its architect, Edmond Duthoit, has brightened up every corner of this neo-Byzantine edifice. Albert's nickname of "Lourdes du Nord" (Lourdes of the North) comes from this church, after a statue of the Virgin Mary fell from the top of the basilica. It was said that its fall would coincide with the end of the war, which indeed it did in 1918 (after more than 2,000 shells!).
