HÔTEL DE VILLE
The city hall is a must in the city centre of Amiens and can already be seen from the outside as its architecture is so impressive. Built in the middle of the 16th century, it takes the place of a former Gallo-Roman amphitheatre. It was enlarged in the mid-19th century due to the city's population growth. During the First World War, it was hit many times, notably on 16 April 1918: a German shell fell in the main courtyard. In 1992, the gates of the courtyard were dismantled. You can see them at the entrance of the Hotoie Park. It now houses the administrative and political services of Amiens Métropole.
