The University of Picardie Jules Verne was officially born on March 27, 1969. But it is only in 1991 that it will take the name of Jules Verne, in order to pay homage to the writer who lived in Amiens. Her first president was Dominique Taddeï, who later joined the benches of the national assembly. In 2019, the university celebrated its 50th anniversary. Today, and in spite of its proximity to two major cities, Paris and Lille, it can boast of having attracted and trained many students each year in a multidisciplinary approach.
