Cimetière de la Madeleine in Amiens, a romantic place with aromatic trees and surprising and moving graves

Cimetière de la Madeleine is famous throughout France for its beauty and because it is the tomb of Jules Verne, the pride of all Samarans. As you approach his grave, you can observe a representation of the author lifting the stone from his tomb to free himself from it. The epitaph underlines this desire for freedom: "Towards immortality and eternal youth". One is almost embarrassed to find the romantic place, with its mixed tree species and its sometimes surprising and moving tombs (eleven of them are listed).

This cemetery is to visit. I had never guided tour and the stele of the tomb of Jules Verne is a true work of art in itself. You can see the deceased for trying to leave his tomb with a hand pointed towards the sky.
