THE PLANT GARDEN
One of France's oldest gardens, the Jardin des Plantes in Amiens.
The origins of the Jardin des Plantes date back to the 13th century, making it one of the oldest gardens in France! In 1751, it was given to the city by Louis XV, on condition that it be turned into a botanical garden. It is said that Rousseau came to stroll here at this time. Today, the garden covers 1 ha and features a magnificent Napoleon III-style greenhouse built in 1895, as well as numerous species of trees, perennials, food plants, medicinal plants and flowers. Activities are organized to help visitors learn more about nature.
