CISE WOOD
The Bois de Cise, nestled in the hollow of the cliffs, south of Ault, is the only natural wood on the Channel coast.
The only natural woodland on the Channel coast, it was even a hunting ground for hounds in the Middle Ages! Nestled in the cliffs to the south of Ault, it's a verdant site ending in an elegant, listed Belle Époque resort. Like Victor Hugo, you'll appreciate the beautiful view. An illustrated walking tour of the Bois de Cise is available from the tourist office. Take the stairs down to get as close as possible to the cliffs. Beware of falling rocks, however, and don't venture beyond them!
