SEAMAN'S CHAPEL
This chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Sea was built in 1859 at 100 meters from the beach.
Like many others in the region, the chapel at Cayeux-sur-Mer symbolizes the rich maritime past of this area where, until the late 1940s, fishermen landed their fish directly on the beach. Dedicated to Notre-Dame-de-la-Mer, it was built in 1859 100 meters from the beach, where sailors used to pray before setting sail and on their return, as a sign of thanks. The façade shows Mary on a boat, arriving at the port of Boulogne-sur-Mer. The whole gives off a gentle, peaceful atmosphere.

The frontispice is awesome but badly preserved as is the Chapel itself. It does deserve a better treatment
the neighbors have been very welcoming and allowed us to enter their garden to take a look a the side of the Chapel
Thanks to them!
