THE VILLAGE CROSS
This cross, which is located in the heart of the naturist town, according to the texts, from the end of the th century. Built on three floors, this brick monument intrigued more than one. Victor Hugo would have likened him to a fountain, Prarond, to a pilloried, others still devineraient a Spanish construction. Opinions also differ as to the fact that this cross would have been erected in honour of Eleonore d'Aquitaine (1122-1204). Indeed, Lucien Vasseur, an archaeologist, claims that this monument was commanded by Edouard I of England in posthumous tribute to his wife Eleonore de Castille (1244-1290).
