HOTEL DE LA LUNE – HALTE JACQUAIRE
Hotel in Orthez with a tower with a crenellated roof, a beautiful spiral staircase and a well in the courtyard.
This is a very beautiful place for the pilgrims of Fez who take the limousine route from Vézelay, renovated thanks to the efforts of the association Stop Saint d'Orthez and the municipality. On the floor there are two rooms with beds with sanitary, central heating, a kitchen with washing machine and dryer. Access is made by doors surmounted by a bow and a blason. It has been well known and affordable and has not always since its opening: there are few places where history can be used as accommodation! Because it is now the primary vocation for pilgrims, it is part of the heritage of the city, by its architecture and history. According to legend, columnist Jean Froissart stayed there before visiting Gaston Phébus in 1388. Beautiful example of a strong house with its defensive devices, its killers and a turret of medieval disposition, it was remodelled from the th century to better comfort. The hotel features a castellated roof tower, a beautiful helical staircase and in the courtyard a tank-sink and sink as well as a trail of lights complete the places that deserve a visit.
