THE OLD BRIDGE
Created in the century by Gaston VII de Moncade, this bridge is an emblematic monument of the town of Orthez.
Since its creation in the 13th century by Gaston VII de Moncade, the Old Bridge appears on the town's coat of arms with its gate tower, it is still the town's emblematic monument. The battle of Orthez in 1814 made him lose his parapets but the charges of gunpowder will not destroy it. Gaston Fébus gave it its current form around 1370. Among the changes, the installation of a drawbridge separating the work and the street of the Old Bridge, stones were removed and a wooden deck installed. The parapets were renovated and lowered for a better view.
