AUTOROUTE A64
The A64 freeway links Toulouse to Bayonne. From the pink city, it takes you to Tarbes, Pau and the major towns of Béarn and the Basque country, as far as the Midi-Pyrénées region. The freeway has a number of well-equipped rest areas, one of which is particularly worth a visit. This is the Pyrenees rest area, home to an exceptional monument to the Tour de France. This giant sculpture, entitled Le Tour, was created by Jean-Bernard Métais from 30 tonnes of steel! The journey along the A64 is a feast for the eyes, with spectacular panoramas of the majestic mountains of the Pyrenees, the vineyards of Jurançon and the plains of the Gers.
