Maison de maître in the centre of Pau with bedrooms on the first floor with a view of the Pyrenees.

This mansion house, situated in a large park with century-old trees, is in the centre of the town, but hidden from view. The place is quiet, restful, the host friendly, everything is there to enjoy a good stay.
The

entire second floor is dedicated to your reception. Each room has its own universe, but all are south-facing and offer a view of the Pyrenees. At the end of the corridor, you will discover the living room which is a living room. A bedroom allows you to welcome all the children together in the same space.

Una casa preciosa y con encanto, la habitación limpia y espaciosa, y los propietarios muy amables. El desayuno es súper recomendable y económico. Sin duda volvería a alojarme aquí si vuelvo a Pau!

We stayed for 2 nights, arriving late on the first night after a day in the Pyrenees mountains to a warm welcome. Our room was large with a sitting area. The villa is obviously old, with furniture and accessories reflecting this, and creaky, uneven floors. It is a quite eccentric in its decor. Towels in the bathroom could be in better condition, they were worn and not soft. There is no elevator, but Sophie helped with the luggage. It is not modern in any way and this should be noted if anyone is looking for a boutique UpToDate hotel. Sophie speaks good English and was welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was generous and fresh. Would recommend for travellers on a budget or for low-price longer term stay. There was free parking off-road.

I stayed at Villa Dampierre for 10 nights while taking part in a choir tour of south-western France. It is a gracious 1890s villa that used to be owned by a countess, and is set in a huge garden with large shady trees. Sophie, the hostess, is kindness itself and went above and beyond the call of duty when I had a medical issue that threatened to derail my whole trip, and I can't thank her enough. The property is a green haven with easy access to the centre of Pau and the station via the Line F bus that passes right past the door, a ten-pass ticket obtainable at each stop for 10 euros. You can also walk to Les Halles market in 20 minutes. My room was Montagne and was spacious with everything I needed. Breakfast is wonderful, with home-made yoghurt, baguettes, croissants, fruit, conserves, eggs cooked to order and sometimes a freshly baked clafoutis. It was a memorable stay and I would encourage travellers to spend a little extra time at Villa Dampierre to enjoy the peace and restfulness there.
