Nelson Paillou Day is dedicated to sports initiation and discovery in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques region. It was launched in 2001 in Arette, in tribute to Nelson Paillou, an emblematic figure in the world of sport. Since then, it has spread to several communes in the department and to the greater Pau area. The aim of this intergenerational day is to bring sport to all, while promoting Paillou's humanist values. It enables people to practice sport in places that are usually inaccessible, and highlights the local associative fabric.
