The Comité Départemental de Randonnée Pédestre des Pyrénées-Atlantiques (CDRP 64) offers training and resources for hikers interested in using GPS. Hiking GPS units are becoming increasingly popular, and offer a wide range of functions for hikers, such as following pre-traced routes, communicating their position to emergency services, or geolocating photos taken during a hike. The CDRP 64 offers one-day training courses in the use of the Garmin Etrex 30/30x/32x GPS, CartoExploreur 3D® software and the SityTrail application. Downloadable tutorials are also available for learning how to use these devices and software. Hikers can prepare their routes, follow their tracks and share their experiences with other hikers.
