ST. ANDREW OF PAU
Building decorated in the English neo-medieval style with beautiful stained glass windows and a sober exterior style
This building, built in 1888, is a little jewel of English neo-medieval style decorated with chiseled stained glass. The sobriety of the exterior is belied as soon as you cross the threshold. The choir's fresco represents a Christ on the cross in the surroundings of Pau and its castle! Also remarkable are the pre-Raphaelite style stained glass windows in the chapels and the baptismal font. The Art Deco altar was sculpted by Ernest Gabard. Visits are by appointment only. The Sunday service, celebrated in English, is open to all. A must-see for all lovers of exceptional religious buildings!
