ST. ALEXANDER NEVSKY CHURCH
This Orthodox church, nestled in a wooded garden, is the oldest in France
Founded in 1867 by Russians visiting Béarn, this Orthodox church is the3rd oldest in France, after those in Nice and Paris. Nestling at the end of a wooded garden, the church is discreet. It has no characteristic domes, as can be seen in Russia. However, the interior boasts a magnificent collection of icons from Saint Petersburg. They recall the history of the Russians in Pau, which began in the 17th century. The church can be visited by appointment. You can also attend the 3-part liturgy.
