Built on a sandbar, Le Crotoy is a port with a long fishing tradition. In the 17th century, it was one of the most important in the English Channel. Today, the silting-up of the bay has forced fishing boats to leave this port for Le Tréport. Although the fishing industry is now in the background, it continues to lend the town a maritime atmosphere. Fishermen's cottages blend beautifully with vacation homes. Today, it's a pretty marina - with room for up to 100 boats - where it's a pleasure to tie up for a day... or more!
